Mariah Carey At The 2008 20th World Music Awards
The international singing sensation Mariah Carey was in Monte-Carlo last Sunday for the 2008 20th World Music Awards. Mariah accepted an award for L.A. Reid, who was unable to attend the music awards because of last minute personal reasons. The World Music Awards awarded L.A. Reid with the 2008 Legend Award for his outstanding contribution to the musical recording industry. Antonio "L.A." Reid is the Chairman of Island Def Jam Music Group, and as a songwriter-producer-executive, he has been a pillar behind the success of such groups as Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Bon Jovi, Lionel Ritchie, and some of the new artists like Pink and Avril Lavigne just to name a few. Mariah Carey herself has always been a huge asset to the recording industry, with her large portfolio of recorded songs that have brought hope and positive inspiration to many throughout the world. In her career to date, she has won five Grammy Awards, and has had eighteen number one hits in the United States. Her vocal range is unequalled and she delivers in each song a positive message with words and melody that inspire. Songs like "Love Takes Time", which was written by Mariah and Ben Marguiles, was a number one hit in the United States and Canada, and in this song gives you one of the clearest examples of Mariah Carey's fantastic vocal range. The 2008 World Music Awards will be broadcast in the United Kingdom on Channel 4 on Friday November 21, 2008 (evening) and it will then be repeated on Sunday November 23 (afternoon), again on Channel 4. In the United States, the show will air on MYNETWORK TV at 8 PM on December 2, 2008 with two additional showings on the same network.
