HSH Prince Albert II Reviews The Tesla Roadster

HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco reviewed the electric Tesla Roadster supercar on Friday as part of his visit to the Top Marques Motor Show held in the Principality Of Monaco (April 24-27, 2008). Top Marques is a Supercar Show and is the only live motor show in the world that brings all of the major manufacturers of supercars together under one roof. It is held each year in Monaco at the Grimaldi Forum.

Darryl Siry, Vice President Sales, Marketing and Service for Tesla Motors, based in the United States in San Carlos, Califonia, outlined the technical features and benefits of the Tesla Roadster to the Prince. The Tesla Roadster is the first ever zero emissions production electric supercar to be produced and represents a new era for the automobile.

The car on display at Top Marques was the fourth production Tesla Roadster built, and part of the Founders' Series for the car. The Founders' Series Roadsters have been purchased by some of the initial investors in the company. Tesla Roadsters numbered 6 and 7 are destined to be delivered to the two co-founders of Google, Larry Page and Sergey Brin. The first year's production of the Roadster will be 600 cars. Bono from U2 and Formula 1 World Champion Damon Hill were also at the Top Marques Motor Show and both stopped by the Tesla exhibit to see the zero emissions supercar.

HSH Prince Albert showed a keen interest in the performance capabilities and the construction details of the Tesla Roadster. He also demonstrated that he had significant prior knowledge of the development details of the car. The Tesla Roadster has a lightning quick acceleration time of 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.0 seconds. It has carbon fibre outer body panels and a body structure that is made from bonded extruded aluminium.
